Ocean Ambassadors

Loosely titled "Ocean Ambassadors," this service-learning unit focuses on the myriad issues that face the world’s oceans and seas.  From pollution to overfishing, and conservation to resource management, students will learn not only about our oceans’ problems, but also about the work that many organizations are doing to address these issues and the resulting problems faced by coastal people.  Students will work over the course of the unit to identify a problem that resonates with them personally, and work to develop and execute an action plan to address their chosen issue.  This unit is meant to be taught over the course of an entire semester so students have time to not only create an action plan to address an issue of their choice, but also reflect on the impact of their service project.
